Samu Paukkunen is the Head, Climate and Energy Security Section at NATO. Before the current position, Mr. Paukkunen was the Acting Director and the Deputy Director of the Finnish institute of international affairs. His area of expertise and research interests include the Arctic and the effects of geopolitical changes in the Arctic region, great power politics and foreign and security policy, climate and energy security.Mr. Paukkunen has comprehensive experience in working for the Finnish state organizations. He acted as an Advisor in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Senior analyst in the Finnish Defence Forces, Foreign and security policy expert at the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland and for the Finnish Parliament as the Secretary general in the International Parliament Cooperation organisation and as Counsellor for international affairs.
